Making Dental Care Easier to Understand and Plan

At Mount Royal Dental Centre, we believe understanding the cost of your dental care should be part of your overall treatment experience. Our team can help you understand your dental insurance benefits, discuss available coverage, and review expected out-of-pocket costs before treatment.

Whether you have private dental insurance, Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) coverage, or no dental insurance, we are here to help you understand your options.

Understanding Your Dental Insurance

Dental insurance plans can vary significantly in what they cover, how much they pay, and what limitations may apply. Our team can help you review the insurance information available to us and explain how it may apply to your recommended dental treatment.

Before beginning treatment, we encourage you to ask about:

  • Your estimated insurance coverage
  • Your expected out-of-pocket portion
  • Annual maximums and remaining benefits
  • Deductibles and co-payments
  • Services that may have limitations or exclusions
  • Whether a pre-determination or estimate is recommended

Insurance coverage is determined by your individual insurance plan. Your insurance provider ultimately determines the benefits available to you.

Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)

Mount Royal Dental Centre accepts patients with Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) coverage.

The CDCP is a Government of Canada program designed to help make dental care more affordable for eligible Canadian residents. Applications for the 2026–2027 benefit year are currently open.

Eligibility is determined by the Government of Canada. Among the current requirements, applicants must not have access to private dental insurance or dental coverage, must have filed their Canadian tax return for the previous year, have an adjusted family net income of less than $90,000, and be a Canadian resident for tax purposes.

Direct Billing to Insurance

Mount Royal Dental Centre offers direct billing to most insurance providers to make the payment process more convenient for our patients.

When possible, our team can submit eligible claims directly to your insurance provider. You may still be responsible for any amount not covered by your plan.

Because insurance policies and individual benefits vary, we recommend confirming your coverage with your insurance provider before treatment.

What You Should Know About CDCP Coverage

CDCP coverage does not necessarily mean that every dental cost will be covered.

The amount covered depends on your eligibility, the CDCP established fees, the services you receive, and your individual circumstances. Depending on family income, eligible services may be subject to a co-payment. Additional charges may also apply when a provider's fees are higher than the amount covered by the CDCP or when services are not covered by the plan.

Before treatment, we recommend discussing your expected costs with our team so you understand what may be covered and what you may need to pay.

What If I Don’t Have Dental Insurance?

You do not need private dental insurance to visit Mount Royal Dental Centre.

Financing & Payment Options

We understand that dental treatment can represent an important financial commitment, particularly when a procedure is not fully covered by insurance.

If you are concerned about the cost of treatment, speak with our team before proceeding. We can review your proposed treatment, discuss estimated costs, explain what may be covered by your insurance or CDCP benefits, and help you understand the portion that may remain your responsibility.

Payment options and financing availability may change. Please contact our office for the most current information before treatment.

We do not want you to proceed with treatment without first understanding the expected financial commitment.
